Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer II will assist in determining the operations required for more complex projects in fabrication and assembly of products as well as implementing cost-savings process improvements. Owns the processes – creates capable processes. May be responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related area.
  • 5 years of experience in direct engineering support of manufacturing processes in an assembly environment, including related industrial manufacturing and/or quality engineering functions. Strong manufacturing / technical knowledge related to manufacture and assembly of electrical and power electronic products.
  • Strong experience in classic Industrial Engineering Skills (motion analysis and time study).
  • Manufacturing and/or design engineering experience and demonstrated technical knowledge of solid-state and variable speed drives and systems, power electronics, high-power/high-voltage electrical packaging (enclosures), and Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) is a strong plus.
  • Strong demonstrated process/systems knowledge in Design for Manufacturing, Test Engineering, PFMEA, Control Plans, plant layout design capability, NPD..

Lead Responsibilities
  • Strong involvement in assembly operations. Identifies, recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters in order to increase efficiency and cost savings. Conducts time studies and data collection as needed to optimize assembly operations including work balancing on lines and creation of playbooks for ramp up and ramp down business conditions.
  • May provide technical leadership/training and/or coaching to other team members.
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing processes, consistent with the Company Program. Supports implementation of the Company Program by implementing concepts in Manufacturing Engineering functions and supporting improvement efforts of High Energy Teams.
  • Leads complex and/or challenging process engineering projects and develops innovative approaches that streamline production processes to achieve market-leading safety, quality, customer lead times, on-time delivery and cost productivity. Responsible for managing manufacturing capital projects and related budgets. Estimates the cost, time and resources required for projects; prepares work orders and monitors the progress of work against estimates.
  • Assists with assessing manufacturing strategies and production footprints, working closely with Operational Excellence leadership to develop, recommend and implement improvement actions.
  • Develops and leads productivity improvement initiatives to achieve year over year improvement goals.
  • Designs new line layouts or re-designs plant layout.
  • Monitors industry trends and developments in engineering technology and makes recommendations on equipment/systems investments.
  • Highly involved in supporting Product Management and Engineering to harmonize Manufacturing/Quality activity in new product development (NPD) process.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to determine appropriate process improvements.
  • Supports the facility EHS and Sustainability Programs by leading and managing various elements of the programs, including participation in semi-annual reporting to senior management.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety, work rules, housekeeping standards and regulations.
