SR. Cost Analyst

The Ideal Sr. Cost Analyst candidate will have 4+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing organization with a min of (2) years in a Cost Accounting role. Inventory Accounting (MUST), RNI, CAPEX, GAAP proficient, with an ability to oversee the financial processes for Inventory, Production and Capital Assets. MUST have a degree in Accounting, Business, (or) Finance.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • Exceptional knowledge of GAAP; particularly as it relates to inventories and capital
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing company in a similar Accounting role
  • Minimum of 2 years of Cost Accounting experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, and ERP systems
  • MS Axapta (Dynamics AX) financial system experience a plus

Lead Responsibilities
  • Capital Investments
  • Facilitate the Capital Appropriations Request (CAR) process from initial review of request for completeness and proper classification to forecasting spend to conducting a Project Close Review and assessing projects’ ROI following completion.
  • Record asset components upon completion of project close reviews in accordance with established fixed asset categories and lives.
  • Inventory and Production Related Accounts
  • Complete necessary weekly/monthly processes.
  • Schedule system-required batch jobs weekly and capture perpetual inventory and production reports at point-in-time each month-end.
  • Complete monthly Absorption calculation and posting to the Ledger.
  • Analyze actual vs budget / forecast / prior month’s results for inventory, standard costing, and related P&L line items.
  • Responsible for cost functions in accordance with established policies and procedures including standard costing, the development of standard costs, overhead allocations and burden on inventory.
  • Improve current Standard Costing process and implement annual review.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure all inventory-related accounts are presented in accordance with GAAP.
  • Complete comprehensive reconciliations/analyses for assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare Inventory Reserves, analysis of slow moving / excess inventory.
  • Reporting Requirements (internal and external)
  • Review Inventory, Absorption, and Capital financial data with Regional Finance Directors.
  • Provide required data pertaining to assigned critical assets to various internal and external audiences.
  • File of all county, state, and federal returns for real, personal, or tangible property timely and accurately.

  • Act as a liaison to external auditors and examiners regarding inventory and production margins.
  • Work closely with Procurement and IT in establishing controls and procedures to mitigate risk.
