Product Specialist – Application Engineer

Currently seeking a Product Specialist for an opportunity in the Industrial Manufacturing setting in WI. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology and at least 5 years of experience with LV VFD in Application/Engineering/Design.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or applicable work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with LV VFD in Application/Engineering/Design with aspirations to transition to Product Management as a career path
  • Ability to travel 10 -20% of the time
  • Strong technical skills related to electrical engineering and power electronics
  • Knowledge of basic Electrical Concepts, VFD’s and Soft starters, Motor Control Theory
  • Ability to interpret specifications, electrical schematics, drawings, mathematical equations formulas
  • Experience with different types of motors – Induction Motor Permanent Magnet Motors, Switch Reluctance Motors etc. ranging from small HP to large HP
  • Familiar with different communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, BACNET, Ethernet, EtherCAT, etc.
  • Organizational and project management skills, detail oriented and strong proofreading and communication skills both written and verbal, together with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Action oriented, proactive in prioritizing own workload and communicating with others
  • Computer skills: MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) / AutoCAD an asset
  • Teamwork skills – must be at ease to interact with others
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals
  • Ability to speak Mandarin is highly preferable

Lead Responsibilities
  • Responsible for researching and analyzing product performance, features attributes comparison of our current product portfolio as well as the competitive landscape
  • Research and analyze VFD performance, features and attributes for current offering, competitive landscape
  • Serve as the resident expert for our LV VFD for our Company brands
  • Perform benchmark testing, product comparisons, specification comparisons and specification development
  • Understand, evaluate and develop customer applications
  • Show a level of expertise to effectively communicate with specifying engineers, plant engineers, integrators, contractors and sellers as required
  • Participates in meetings (kickoff and other) with various departments to develop solutions
  • Present VFD operational seminars in a classroom environment utilizing multimedia tools, deliver adequate training to both customers and fellow service staff to provide training on the basic fundamentals of the LV VFD Product Families
  • Maintain a knowledge database where FAQs and other encountered challenges that are encountered with customers
  • Assist customer with advanced technical questions about products and applications of the VFD
  • Provide onsite support to resolve complicated customer issues
  • Using multimeter, hand tools and basic to mid-level electrical theory, diagnose and resolve control and instrumentation issues at the customers sites
  • Create or edit procedures and best practices related to start-up, installation, troubleshooting, configuration, etc.
  • Prepare test reports, field visit reports, etc
