Medium Voltage Design Engineer

Ideal candidate will have 8+ years electrical engineering experience with medium voltage VFD’s, switchgear and soft starters. Design, technical sales function or sustaining engineering background. Ability to create proposals with custom solutions.

This position is responsible for developing the proposals for Company custom Medium Voltage solutions, initiating the kick-off meetings with engineering once the proposals become orders, and high level project-management of the orders through front-end communications.  This position also requires managing all technical communications to support the proposals and the sales team.  This position will also be responsible for business development projects in market research, marketing, and sales strategy. The select candidate shall be capable of rapidly reviewing multiple specifications, prioritize RFQ’s based on probability of wining, and manage all outside communications. The candidates may also need to travel to support the sales team by providing the technical background on Company products.

• Works closely with external sales teams and customers to provide application specific designs and solutions
• Identifies and interprets technical requirements, deliverables, dates, and other noteworthy programmatic details/constraints
• Determines if the order should be led by a Program Manager
• Reviews contractual terms and conditions and attends bidders conferences where applicable
• Prepares total quotation package and provides front end support
• Complete business development projects that will expand Company’s market or product lines

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent educational experience
• 10 years plus experience within design/sustaining engineering or technical sales function
• Ability to design and configure complex systems with limited guidance
• Familiarity with Medium, Voltage power electronics equipment including switchgear, soft starters and VFDs.
• Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines
• Ability to travel 15% or more, depending on customer needs
• Medium Voltage motor controls experience required

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Solidworks experience a plus
• Proficient with 2-D and 3-D AutoCAD software
• Experience operating in an electronics manufacturing environment a plus
• Strong technical skills related to electrical engineering and power electronics
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals
• Ability to work independently to complete milestones
• Good time-management skills and ability to set priorities
• Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines
