Director of Accounting

Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead all accounting functions for a dynamic high-fashion apparel and retail organization in Downtown Los Angeles. This position reports directly to the COO and President and plays a key leadership role in ensuring financial accuracy, integrity, and strategic alignment across wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and a passion for the fast-paced fashion industry.

• Direct and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, cash management, and monthly close.
• Lead preparation and presentation of financial statements, management reports, and performance dashboards.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure GAAP compliance.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling processes in alignment with seasonal fashion cycles.
• Manage inventory accounting, production costing, and margin analysis across multiple business channels.
• Partner with leadership on business planning, product launches, and retail expansion initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions to ensure timely reporting and compliance.
• Provide actionable insights to senior leadership, bridging creative and financial perspectives to support decision-making.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience; fashion, apparel, or consumer goods industry strongly preferred.
• QuickBooks Desktop and Advanced Excel proficiency
• Proven track record leading accounting teams and improving financial processes.
• Strong understanding of production costing, inventory management, and wholesale vs. retail revenue streams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively across executive and creative departments.
